The Momly

The Momly is a social network built to provide a supportive community for women at similar stages trying to conceive, moms-to-be, and moms.

Role & Work

For the project, I worked with 2 founders ( we became friends through Instagram) for nearly 3 months. My role as Product Designer was to create the new face of the app and help build its user experience. During this fast-paced project, I simultaneously user flows in FigJam and used Figma to build high-end prototypes. At the same time, I created a simple design system.

User Research

I conducted an online survey using tally forms and dive into deeper conducted of workshops covering UI and UX of existing apps that were used to help them understand current pain points, needs, and aspirations. Moms provided insight into current brand perception and how the brand could evolve in the future through the eyes of the customer. We also presented a series of mood boards and design directions that allowed customers to vote on and discuss desirable and undesirable visual elements based on their vision of the future.

To understand user challenges and goals, I approached 10 women with different age groups to conduct direct user interviews to understand women's fertility treatments and delivery options.

FTUE

Goals:

  • Onboarding screens that capture our important app features, making users get information

  • Optimize our engagement with personal and valuable information to show recommendations

  • Point out important features as they discover the app on their own for the first time

After conducting market research, competitive audits, and user observation/need-finding, I began to build batches of low-fidelity prototypes. These explorations led to discussions amongst the engineering team, and founders, to help direct the vision to something that mirrored the needs of our users and company as a whole.

Based on the initial research and details, I’ve established key goals and created an entire user flow

  • Time

  • Interface

  • Emotion

3 months, 80+ artboards, 2 prototypes

I included bottom sheets, panels, modals, lists, filters, search, drag actions, and a lot of features.
